Welcome to 2025-2026!

It is hard to believe that we are already in to the beginning of October. We have had a wonderful start up at Katarokwi Learning Centre. It was so great on the first day of school to walk through the halls and see classrooms full of students already engaged in their learning. We continued to register new students looking to finish their diploma through KLC Core throughout the month of September and already have 3 graduates!

KLC is a busy place with many different programs and opportunities for students. You can learn more about the various programs at Katarokwi Learning Centre on our website under Our School --> KLC Programming

We are looking forward to another great year of supporting students in regular attendance and engagement at school and helping them find success! We welcome parent and guardians as well as students to connect any time with questions or concerns.

Recognition Lunches

This year we are continuing are tradition of celebrating the success of KLC students at the end of each month with a recognition lunch. Students from every program are acknowledged with certificates for completing credits, for personal successes or for contributing positive to our school community. We held our first recognition lunch on September 25th and in addition to the acknowledgement and lunch, we also had the opportunity to learn more about IEPs from our Learning Program Support teacher, Bernardete. In coming months, we will continue to invite in community partners to share about their services or community members to share about their careers as part of these Recognition lunches.

Human Development and Sexual Health Curriculum for Elementary Students

As part of LDSB's commitment to ongoing transparency and communication with families, please follow the link to Form 325-D on the LDSB website. It outlines the Human Development and Sexual Health curriculum expectations for Grades 1-8.  Families can request to have their child or children exempted from instruction related to Human Development and Sexual Health expectations by completing and returning an exemption form for each child (Form 325-B) five school days before the start of instruction. Prior to instruction, your child's classroom teacher will inform parents/guardians when the expectations related to the Human Development and Sexual Health expectations in Strand D will be covered. For a more detailed overview of this process, please refer to Administrative Procedure 325: Exemption From Human Development and Sexual Health Instruction (listed under the Policies and Procedures section of the LDSB website), or contact the school.
